DIY Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo has got to be one of the best beauty time savers that is out there. I go through this stuff like crazy.

If you ever wear hats, having Dry Shampoo is crucial. Scientifically proven, after one hour of wearing a hat, the scalp oils begin to go rancid. Gross right? Now you know why having dry shampoo with you is key. Not only will it give your hair extra wearability as if you just washed and dried your hair, it will take the hat stink away. Trust me, you may not be able to smell the top of your head, but people close to you can, and it ain’t pretty.

I have made my own with this recipe.

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • Salt shaker jar with fine holes or a small jam mason jar with a retired makeup blush brush

There is also DIY dry shampoo recipes that gets mixed with water and is put in a spray bottle. This kind makes your hair wet because its not an aerosol so I prefer the powder method.

When it comes down to it, even though I am frugal, I prefer buying it. {Read my Dry Shampoo Reviews} It is a lot easier, way less mess and you can take it on the go which is when you really need it.

Have you tried any dry shampoo recipes? Did you like it?

  1. I’m a brunette, an d the dry shampoo always showed for a long time after I used it.so I added dark cocoa powder, and nutmeg. Now it blends right in!

  2. Here’s a tip to make hair look thicker: put a couple (literally) of drops of hair oil in your hands, rub together, and run it through your hair. Then apply the powder version of dry shampoo (or aerosol spray).

    1. Thank you! I hope that helps our fine hair readers. As for myself I try to fight my hair from looking too big because it gets puffy from my coarse texture and waves. I will try just the first step.
