DIY Toilet Spray

Homemade Version of Scent Trapping Toilet Spray

Toilet Spray Recipe:

1 Tablespoon Rubbing Alcohol

40 Drops Essential Oils, Scent of  your Choice

Water

homemade poopourri ingredients

In a small spray bottle, mix the Alcohol and Oils. Then, fill the rest with water. Each time you use it, give it a good shake.

To use this, simply spray several spritzes in to the toilet water before sitting down. The oils will trap the scent of your “unmentionables” and leave a refreshing odor in the restroom for the guests.

What are your thoughts about this product? What a clever idea for a problem that EVERYBODY has. You know what they say, “Everyone Poops”

  1. I just wanted to say that YES I have used the real product. My parents have had a bottle in their bathroom since about 5 years ago. Soooooo. . . . tried it and got some for my own bathroom. Would also like to say that some toddlers who have trouble with the #2 potty training experience, they think it’s pretty cool too. Would love to try the DIY version.

    1. That is great! Thanks for the comment! I am actually doing potty training right now and I think it will be so nice because you have to sit right there with them while they do their business. Great invention.

  2. My mom gave all the guys in the family a spritz bottle of POO-POURI. Everyone lives it. Can’t wait to make some. That way we can have our on flavors.

      1. I have a real one which has a distinctive fresh Ginger Root fragrance that is really nice. The citrus oils should be nice too though.

  3. I watched the commercial two or three times before I accepted that it was a real product. I’ve never tried it, but I think your recipe might be fun.

  4. I buy this product @ the “specialty” shops & it’s not cheap. Thanks for the DIY version that actually works. Love your homemade DIY’s.

  5. I use the Poo-Pourri(for women)and the Trap-A crap( for men). I love them both, but they are pretty pricey. Would love to try a DIY version.

  6. I bought some of the Poo-pourri for my hubby ( “Shittin’ pretty” scent) and it DOES really work-but as Donna mentioned it’s not cheap! Anyone without an exhaust fan system in their bathroom will greatly appreciate this stuff! Can’t wait to try this recipe out! Thx 4 the info!

  7. Since I fly quite often this product is a Godsend for the plane. It helps to eliminate bathroom odor going in and coming out if you know what I mean. I will try your recipe.

  8. We have the real product. It works and YES it’s pricey. But so worth it when you stay in a hotel with others. Can’t wait to make your DIY version. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Hi there,
How small of a spray bottle do you use? Where did you get it?
Thanks so much, can’t wait to try the DIY version…the real stuff works, but it is spend!

  10. I’ve been making my own No. 2 spray for months and my husband, who at first thought I was out of my mind, won’t go to the bathroom without it!. I found dark blue glass 2 and 4 ounce bottles at my local health food store. They also had every essential oil imaginable. I started out using approx. 20 drops each of bergamot, lemongrass and grapefruit oils with water, no alcohol. We just shake well before spraying. The lemongrass and grapefruit oils were only $5 but the bergamot oil was $15! So now I only use about 10 drops of bergamot per bottle to 25 each of the other two oils. It still smells really fresh and does the job. Plus, I won’t have to buy the pricey bergamot oil as often as the other two oils.

  11. Hi great trying ur self, it seems they use something else with there’s. I did what you did to make. I sence there was another ingredient.water didnt seem to work as well.not sure alcohol makes a difference. But with out giving secret awsy.they mention theres a few ingredients thats in regular sprays.
So your recipe is great and seems to help others. Thats what matters.
    good luck with diy poop-pourri.

  12. I just made some of this today, a lot more affordable than the name brand stuff. Instead of using essential oils which are costly I used warming oils. I found 0.85 fl. oz. bottles at Walmart for .97 cents each. Works like a charm. Thanks for the idea.

  13. JUST A SILLY COMMENT – DON’T WE USUALLY SAY SCENT WHEN IT’S SOMETHING WE SMELL? I USUALLY THINK FLAVOR IS SOMETHING TO TASTE. AS I SAID, A SILLY COMMENT.
WE HAVE TRIED YOUR BATHROOM ODOR BLOCKER. OUR RV VENT WOULDN’T OPEN BUT I HAD MY EOs WITH US. I WHIPPED UP A POTION AND WE WERE SAVED (BATHROOM WISE). WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DOUBLE, DOUBLE, ALL KINDS OF TROUBLE TURNED OUT TO BE NO TROUBLE AT ALL.
    THANKS.
    LOVE YOUR FUN BLOG.
