Follow the Signs For Summer Fun With Banana Boat

Now that we all live in the same state, it is so fun to get all the kids together for summer fun. One of the best things that we like to do together, is go to a local splash pad. Everybody from 6 months to sixty can splash and have fun. That is, until the tiny splash pad bully steals the toddler’s squirt gun [tears]. But, bullies are the least our problems while having fun at the splash pad. The sun is the real enemy. Sunburns kill fun quickly, so to keep everyone having fun, we take a little time to plan and protect. After all, staying hydrated and protected is number one priority for moms during summer fun.

Between us sisters, we have 9 kids. That means, we stock up on sunscreen. There are so many options out there. Thank goodness it is easy to stop by Wal-mart and grab all the Banana Boat® selections to fit your needs. I like the protective dry oils, and I give the kids max protection with KIDS SPF50 (now they have SPF100 – Wahoo!), because who knows how long it will be until I will be able to wrangle them in for re-application.

I don’t know about my sisters, but I keep sunscreen stashed in multiple places so that I don’t get somewhere and realize that the sunscreen is still in the pool bag, hanging in the closet. I keep one in the car, stroller and in the house. I also slip one into my husbands things hoping that he will remember to use it because I put it in his way. You may think, that is a lot of sunscreen to buy, but I just get the little bottles for the extra places and it is worth it. All it takes to protect is 1 ounce every 2 hours. DSC_0442

After going to esthetics school and learning about the damage the skin recieves from sun exposure, I am pretty strict about SPF. Can you tell? 😉

What do you and your family do for fun in the summer? How do you protect?

Here is a fun site put together by Banana Boat® to keep your family having fun this summer. Check it out and click around. There are some really fun family activities there, including a Wheel of Fun to get some fun ideas for summer fun.
