Best Boots for Fall 2013

This post was inspired by the question “What do you want for your birthday this year?” that my husband asked me recently. I replied, I think that it is about time that I got some really good fall/winter boots.

I have learned something over the years  about buying boots. It’s a simple lesson really. Don’t buy cheap boots! Every year I get a new pair of cheap boots that are cute. I think, “Oh, they only have to last through the season.” The problem is, they don’t last and my feet are always cold and damp. By now, I have spent more money in cheap boots than I would have by just buying nice ones in the first place.

I looked in my closet and noticed that I had cheap boots in every color, black boots, blue boots, white boots, brown boots, red/brown boots etc. That is a lot of boot storage for our little closet!

My new resolution is to get quality not quantity. This year, I am going to purge my closet {YAY} and get one nice everyday boot and one nice dressy boot. That’s it. My boots WILL be waterproof.  My boots WILL be warm. And to top it off they WILL look great and last for years. My final decision was the top pair with the eyelets. So excited for my birthday.

Kate Spades version of the mountain man boots. So cute. Too bad I don’t do well in wedges or heels.

Wellies that don’t look like rain boots! Love this for rainy days!
(I wore this kind while visiting Alaska in the Spring Runoff Season and they were the BEST thing that I put in my suitcase.)

  2. I’m currently in Germany where fall showed us last week for sure. I ordered a black & brown pair of riding boots by Enzo Angiolini from Nordstrom for $99.99 each reg price of $135. Free shipping!!

  3. A few years ago, I got a beautiful pair of black leather Ralph Lauren boots for cheap from a RL purchaser when I worked at a fabric company. They are amazing. They’ve lasted through almost constant wear during 3 falls, winters and springs. They’re comfortable, warm and durable. For years I was buying cheap crappy boots or wearing my little sister’s (leaky) UGG boots. My RL boots are one of the best things I’ve ever purchased. I spent more on cheap boots than I would’ve on my RL boots even if I had paid full price. Quality wins on boots.

    1. I love when our purchases pay for themselves over and over and over. Thanks for sharing! I will have to look into RL boots.
